Dr. Richard Brettell greets the Institute’s founders, Edith and Peter O’Donnell
The last few months have been busy and exciting. In December, The Edith O’Donnell Institute of Art History celebrated its third anniversary with a program and dinner presented at the Dallas Museum of Art. Over 250 friends attended this evening including the Institute’s founders, Edith and Peter O’Donnell. The evening featured talks by Mr. Phillipe de Montebello, Professor in the History and Culture of Museums at New York University’s Institute of Fine Arts and past director of The Metropolitan Museum of Art and Dr. Sylvain Bellenger, Director of the Museo e Real Bosco di Capodimonte. Their remarks highlighted the importance of the Institute’s future work for the University as well as for the entire Dallas/Fort Worth region.

Our international initiatives continue to expand with new partnerships and exciting collaborations in China, Italy, and France. A Master’s in Art History degree program will be launched in Fall 2018. This new master’s program will teach young and future scholars to become teachers, curators, museum professionals, art researchers and conservators. These students will have access to our regional partners and museum collections and be our next generation of art historians.
We thank our donors for their support of EODIAH and our many exciting projects. We invite you to join us a “Friend” and be a part of Dr. Brettell’s vision to make EODIAH one of the world’s great art institutes and one of the greatest assets to UT Dallas and the cultural life of our region.
Please visit http://www.utdallas.edu/arthistory/support/ to make a gift to support EODIAH. Please call me at (972) 883-2472 or email me at lucy.buchanan@utdallas.edu. I look forward to discussing the many significant ways you can become a part of our exciting future.
